Come Together

Rudy followed along in the group hunt that Fern was leading, musing over how much had changed this year. Memories of coming out here and hunting alone numerous times and with far less experience than he now had come to mind. For all the times he’d come back injured much to his chagrin and his family's fears there were numerous accounts of where he should have come back injured but luck or fate or a talented hawk had kept him safe.

Rudyard listened to Fern speak and give direction, his eyes focused primarily on the tapir. “They are quick to hide somewhere. Thankfully not a lot of water for it to slip into here, guess the berries were too alluring for it to stay near that bit of safety. It’ll likely try and shove itself into the bushes, so I’d suggest we try to keep it away from those when chasing it."

It was Fern’s hunt to make the first move but hopefully, she wouldn’t mind Rudy adding in his own two cents. Other than a quick glance at Fern to check her reaction his attention was back on dinner.
