Just for the laughs

Keahi stood with the dire wolf, her back to him and still the hyenas do not shrink away. She makes herself appear taller then she is, hackles raising, growling at them to come and push their luck. Jaws snap, sending spittle flying into the air and she hears the male at her back do the same. They are pack, united against the attacking beasts and the hyenas finally get the picture. They tuck their tails and begin to slink away and Keahi charges forward slightly to slap the ground with her paws. It has the desired effect, sending the cackling creatures racing away.

As the red wolf turns to face the male, the façade falls away and there is a gentleness in her eyes that was not there a moment before. Keahi chuckles as Mercury speaks, giving the tall male a respectful bow, she says, “Glad I could help. My name’s Keahi. Pleasure to meet you.” A warm smile is on her lips as she straightens back up.
