Damn...when was this snow going to go away? He thought he would've been used to it by now considering he used to live in the North, but honestly, he hated the stuff. It made it difficult for him to blend in when trying to hunt. He was both at an advantage, and disadvantage, however. On one hand, it was much easier for him to track down his prey by way of following their very easy-to-follow trails in the snow. On the other? He was bright freaking red! Unless they mistook him for a pool of blood or they were color blind by some miracle, he was easy to spot if he wasn't careful. But...that's where his black bear cloak came in. It blended in a little better than his crimson coat did, but he still had to be careful while hunting. He was on the trail of another deer today, and it was easy to track in the snow as it turned to slush. He could see some spots where the deer had slipped or lost footing, and it was highly likely it had a messed-up ankle from slipping on the ice and melting snow. Perfect. That meant this hunt would be easy today. Especially with the help of his companions, this would be a piece of cake! Readjusting his cloak, the crimson male carefully made his way forward while the wolverine had gone up ahead and the bird had flown off to find the best path and vantage points over the injured deer. And it didn't take long for the palm cockatoo to return. The avian landed on Ignis' back and informed him of the deer's location, and the crimson wolf wasted no time in following a path around and giving it a slightly wider berth since his quarry was coming back this way. He hunkered down in the snow and stalked forward. Somewhere up ahead, his wolverine was tracking the deer as well, waiting for the right moment to start chasing it back this way so Ignis could try to take it down. There was just a bit of a hiccup, however...he could hear scuffling up ahead, and before he knew it, he saw a flash of brown fur come charging his way straight towards him. Cursing under his breath, Ignis waited, but the buck was charging and it didn't seem like it had any intention of stopping. Its head was lowered, and Ignis knew that if he didn't get out of the way, he would get skewered. He jumped up and out of the way just as the buck reached him, sending snow spraying everywhere as he got out of the way just in the nick of time. It ran right past, and a few seconds later, his wolverine came running towards him. "What the hell happened?" He snarled as he turned on his companion. "Sorry, it spotted me before I could get close enough to grab a leg." Muttering with annoyance, Ignis resigned himself to restarting his tracking of the buck... ooc// Using 1/2 word prompt pass|| WC: 505 "Speak" |
