Athena growls and ducks under a paw that is aimed for her head, amber eyes spying a tall wolf running up behind the mad bear. She can’t see what he does but, whatever it is, causes the angry beast to roar in outrage and turn to swat at the taller wolf. The earthen woman uses the distraction to leap up and grab a mouthful of the thing’s cheek, teeth slicing through the tender flesh near the bear’s eye. Another roar, this one of pain and Athena is forced to release her hold and back away as the clawed paws are swung toward her. She feels the air shift as one swipe, narrowly misses her.
