The murky water lapped at the sand, crashing against the shore in hissing waves, receding just as quickly into the greater body from which it came. The sky had become dreary and gray, clouds heavy with unshed snow. Somehow it gave the impression that the heavens were finally beginning to reflect its numberless age of having comforted Alacritis for so many eons. In some far away thought Nibelheim wondered if ever the sky might fall. It was a curious idea and inspired a soft chuckle but the ocher male did not pursue that particular avenue.

His usually restless mind had finally been silenced, by what he couldn?t rightly say but he was grateful for it nonetheless. It provided him a rare moment of total, unadulterated silence that he reveled in. Wanting to take full advantage of this opportunity he had sought out the calmest place he could find, a journey that had taken him east until he?d reached the delta. It was by far the most serene area he could find considering he had just come from a swampy forest that likely hadn?t sprouted a hint of foliage for years.

He liked the water and its consistency, how it would roll across the shores and return to the sea only to repeat itself. He?d taken the time to bathe the muck away too and while the cold numbed his skin and caused him slight discomfort he was left feeling clean and refreshed.

For once there were no whispers dripping poison in his ears, no grumblings of discontent biting at his thoughts. Nibelheim was alone in his mind, a place that seldom was only his.
