Simple Wanderings

He had awoken only moments ago, feeling rested but still anxious. Whatever had come over him recently, he was beginning to wish it away. The darker part of him wanted to go back to his old ways, when he was alone without anyone else to care for or worry about. Caring seemed to have suddenly taken over his being. He cared for his children, Ares and Devya especially. He cared enough to die for them. He cared for Tortuga, and he even supposed he cared for a woman. Most of these things had been beyond him, not even plausible options for his life. What had changed him so? A foreign smell wafted into his den, alerting his sense. Ears perked and eyes widened slightly as he peered out from beneath his overhang, finding that he was unable to see from his position who or what had come near to his home. That smell was soon accompanied by that of a freshly slain deer, a smell that tempted him to his feet. The light reflected off the snow and blinded him temporarily, leading him to narrow his eyes to block out the glare. It took a moment before he was able to locate and focus on the female stranger. Massize paws carried the brute toward the newcomer, stopping far enough away to avoid any invasion of space. Seraphim spared a moment to look her over, noting that she was even larger than he and seemed to be in good condition. He did not detect the scent of another pack, which was a relief to his wary mind. Cautiously, he cleared his throat and addressed the stranger in his usual emotionless tones. I'm surprised you managed to find a doe so near to my home, stranger. Speech Thought Others |
