An Elephant Never Forgets

Mitros did not share the monochrome woman's sadness at the elephant's demise, all he felt was raw, unbridled excitement at his first successful hunt on something larger then a rabbit. The absolute power in the creature's limbs and tusks, the amount of weight it had acquired over what must have been years and years.. and felled, by a small group of wolves who'd outsmarted it. It felt good to have experienced this, and before his first year was up.
He made his way down the gorge alongside his cousin, stepping lightly to ensure he did not meet the same fate as the elephant before him. Butchering it was almost a second thought - sure he was hungry, but not starving. Perhaps if he was lucky, he could trade away a portion of his meat for the right to one of those massive tusks.
Corbie got to butchering and her companion offered instruction on how best to separate the hide from the meat. Mitros pushed forward to assist, grabbing a portion of the hide and holding it tight so the knife-wielding raccoon-thing could begin to sever it. "We came from Fireside, before it disbanded." Mitros offered helpfully. "My family decided to go off to become pirates, I didn't want to, so now we're just wandering looking for somewhere new."
