Mummers Band

"We've been rambling all the night, and some time of this day."

A traveling band of performers, musicians and tradesmen the Mummers live to travel, explore, and celebrate life.  In addition to exploring new lands they perform for packs and groups of loners, putting on plays and concerts in return for food and goods. The tradesmen of the Mummers have a variety of talents and will often peddle their wares before, after and during the intermission of performances. Keen explorers and adventurers, many Mummers seek to find treasures, rare herbs, gems, hides and other items. These can either be sold at events or added to costumes and instruments as a testament to ones experiences.

The Mummers are a neutral band, seeking to stay out of inter-pack conflict in order to keep a level playing field. They are generally non-violent and don't really form alliances. Packs and wolves that seem threatening are generally avoided. That said "raids" are still a possibility. They will generally be arranged ahead of time and treated more as a grand game. The Mummers and chosen pack betting with goods and the winner taking the pot.

As a mobile and nomadic group many Mummers choose to utilize teepees and yurts as a form of mobile shelter. Mummers are encouraged to use their creativity when it comes to life on the road. Travois are often used as a means to transport goods.

Festivals

While festivals and performances will be spontaneous, depending on the opportunities that present themselves, there are some traditional rounds the Mummers will make.

Winter Solstice Celebration

When the year is at its darkest and coldest the Mummers will hold a festival with music, plays and games. The play is usually highlighted with a sword dance and competition between two of the season's most noted actors. As the Mummers often follow the spring and summer seasons any with a healing or hunting skill are encouraged to present their wares at this time as an opportunity for hard hit loners or packs to stock up on supplies.

Summer Rodeo

A more rowdy festival held in the middle of summer. In addition to music, plays (usually melodramas where the audience are encouraged to throw gizzards at the villain ), and craft booths the Mummers will also gather a collection of wild prey species. Daring festival attendees can attempt to ride these wild creatures for the chance to win prizes. Anything from mutton-busting young bighorn sheep to riding a bull bison.
