Birna peered over the ledge of the marble wash. She was tucked down inside the dried river bed watching caribou graze in the open fields surrounding it. Traditionally she would pick off a sick, young, or old animal and eat it but for now she was content to watch and get familiar with the dynamics of the herd. She had never considered herding such creatures before. It wasn't in her nature but perhaps it was time to let go of old ideas and embrace something new.
Birna looked to the white raven, Guelder who perched nearby. He'd been telling her tales of his homeland and the reindeer herders there. The only problem was she was one creature. Even with her raven and clouded leopard companions it would be hard to successfully raise a herd. Still it was an entertaining thought. If she could find other interested creatures perhaps they could band together to ensure a source of food and resources.
In the meantime she would continue to watch the herd. Searching for weakness in animals that needed to be culled and strength in those that make make good stock.
