She didn't know what had happened. One day she was nice and warm and full in her den with her mother, and then her mother rushed out all of a sudden and all the young girl could hear was a loud commotion outside and then...silence. She waited in the den for what felt like forever, but it had only been about two or three days. Her stomach hurt. She was hungry. Thirsty. She called for her mom, but there was no answer. Her tummy growled and rumbled, and it felt like it was trying to eat itself. She was cold. Not feeling too good. She didn't know how long she had been alone, or if her mother would come back.
But finally, she would get the urge to go look. The den was too cold now. Too quiet. Outside, the sky was bright and the world was blindingly white. She squinted against the brightness of the snow, trying to get used to how different the world was out here. Her tiny heart raced, paws tentatively touching the ground as she climbed out of the entrance to her den and plopped right in front of it. She looked around but saw no sign of...anything. No mama. No sight nor sound nor hair to be found. She wobbled as she took a step forward, falling face first into the snow. She had just started to learn how to walk before mama disappeared...and she wasn't too good at it, yet.
Shaking the snow from her face, she sat back again and decided she was going to wait here. Maybe if she called for her mom...she'd come back, right? Saga started to squeal as loud as she could, hoping that her mother would hear her and come back to feed her and warm her up.
