Mercury felt her balance shift as his greater weight overcame the younger wolf's defences. Beau fell to the ground, marking the end of their spar. Mercury disengaged, and Iris let out a yelp and went running to Talis, swiping at the other's tail and beginning a hot game of pursuit.

Not letting them distract him, Mercury kept his attention on Beau, and offered the man his shoulder to help him back to his paws. “You did” he agreed as Trill offered Beau words of encouragement. “You said you didn’t have much experience dealing with battle companions. Today was about helping familiarise yourself with facing them. You did very well” he agreed warmly.
