"Beau, you do enough."
She understood the feeling of uselessness but she wouldn't let the boy put himself down when he was already doing more than most. She huffed, stepping closer to meet his eyes but not inside his personal space at all. Her head lowered somewhat but still was raised higher. Trying to sound as confident as she thought she did.
"You're beating yourself up about something you can't control - take it from me, that isn't the way to do it" she told him bluntly but not unkindly. She was not screaming at him in the face, but it was clear she wouldn't take him being cruel toward himself "you should focus on your training. One day you'll be a Paladin, a part of the guild officially. Not seen as a child. Do what you are doing right now; protecting the guild and its members."
She eyed the lad for his reaction before moving on.
"Even being a child - a boy - in the eyes of other wolves, you already are one of our most active members. You do more than most adults do. You're available to help, you do help and follow through with it. Don't bring yourself down. If you start to falter, it reflects poorly on yourself and the ones you're close to. Don't let others see weakness in you, Beau. It doesn't suit you. You're stronger than that."
