Wren felt her face burn, embarrassed and gleeful all at once. She had to remember nobody else was around to hear Mercury, but would that be so bad anyway? "It's because I love you" she said slowly, trying to drive the point across "that I'm offering you this. Because I trust you, and you trust me. We rely on each other, even though we're strong enough to stand on our own."

Upon a time, she would have offered it to Medusa eventually. If Medusa had ever considered not getting revenge, settling down... No, her 'friend' had bigger plans. She saw that enough. But would she have trusted Medusa as much as she trusted Mercury? Would Medusa go out of her way to do everything Mercury had done already, without being prompted?

"You know the pack, its members... You went out of your way to do it, without being asked. Medusa's actions caused me to realize... I don't want to wait around for bad things to happen. If they're going to come, they're going to come. But I'd rather face them together - with you - over anyone else. Having warriors in the guild is fine but..." She took in a breath, closing her eyes.

"I don't want to be unprepared for the future. You're more experienced than the others. If something was to happen to me, I'd trust you to help the others. I'd trust you to make sure they were safe, Merc. That's the only thing that's more important than us to me. Them. And you already have given them your trust and companionship."

She opened her eyes, staring into his stormy blue ones. "It isn't just me who values you. They all do. That's why I'd like to offer you the position of Ranger."
