The woman introduced herself as Jynn and said she'd be happy to race him. "Dime's m'name," he said, his tail wagging a little faster for a beat to match hers. He nodded as she pointed out the "scraggly pine" they'd be racing towards, not too far away but enough that it would take a few minutes or so to sprint to. Good. Dimosthenes was fast, but he tired quickly, so a sprint race would be better than a marathon, but he did want to have a bit of time to catch up if Jynn got a fast start.

Jynn threw the rock up and Dime watched it rise and fall like it had a death wish and he was a vengeful genie. When it hit the ground, he was off like a shot. Jynn was fast too, though, and the two of them were neck-and-neck. Dime pushed himself on, even faster, eyes pinned to the pine. He focused on his own movement, strides eating up yard after yard, and slowly pulled ahead an inch.
