Daddy was gone, off doing whatever tasks the man had to do during the day. Aresenn had slipped out of the den, possibly off to go play with one of the other pirate pups, and with Baelfire and their mother missing now… all she had left to poke at was Diablo unless she decided she wanted to go looking for one of the other pups herself. At least without mommy and daddy here he didn’t have any reason to get all huffy. Maybe he’d ever play with her for a little while. Rivin rose to her paws from her little area of the den, a spot that she had chosen close to where their father had been sleeping, and then padded over to where Diablo was curled up.

She liked Diablo, even if he could be a butthead. She admired his toughness, though she didn’t like how he tried too hard to be the center of attention with their daddy, especially now that their mother was gone. She set a paw on his shoulder, gently shaking him. “Hey Diablo, wake up. Let's do something.” Rivin urged softly. “I don’t care what you want to do, but staying here is boring, right? So come on!” She wasn’t sure if her urging would do anything, or if the pup would be grumpy and ignore the fact she wanted to hang out.

Hopefully Diablo was in a good mood today.
