Not a minute past midnight

OOC: OK, it's more then a minute past midnight because it's 2 weeks into the season but RK was BUSY and we're gonna pretend this was done ASAP as summer came around :tear:

Zephyr had been waiting, sitting upon his balcony and watching the moon. His navigational training had well prepared him for this moment and to his estimation, he had mere minutes before the moon would be properly positioned in the sky to signal the beginning of a new day cycle. The beginning of a new season. The beginning of his second year in Boreas. The young raptor let himself bathe in the moonlight for a few more moments, drinking in it's encouraging light and tracing the patterns of stars in the sky. Remembering everything that led up to this, his first birthday.

From his fireplace mantle his serpent companion hissed, breaking the boy from his daze and bringing him to whirl back to face the bedroom. It was time! He was going to be late! Did he take the extra time to go down the stairwell, or take the shortcut? It didn't take him long to decide.

Turning back to the balcony, he deftly stepped up onto the railing and off - extending his wings, catching the air, and completing a spiral angled steeply downward and to the left. Circling the castle at speed, and crashing with a thunk onto the balcony a floor below. Gods, he hoped he landed on the right one. Hopping up to the doorway, he put his beak to the castle and gave some polite yet urgent knocks to signal his presence to the wolves he presumed were slumbering within - if the landing hadn't already alerted them, that is. "Mom! Dad!" Zephyrus called into the room.
