Thorn

Thorn had never experienced the dangers of prior years when spirits or magic touched the land. The magic bubble of autumn seemed a wonderful treat and a thing to take for granted since it had happened so shortly after he had been permitted to roam and explore. Sure, Thorn knew it wasn’t normal by facts passed along but he had no personal experience to feel concern for it.
Thorn followed along with his aunt Gwyn, enjoying her company. Thorn was a social boy so any of his family or friends members of the pack were always welcome to explore with him. Thorn’s desire to observe and learn mixed with his puppy's desire to play. At points, he walked relaxed next to Gwyn just curious and trying to look at everything at once.
Those leaves though, they were hard to ignore. When one came by to drift on the wind Thorn had no choice but to jump up to either try and grab them in his mouth or pounce on them after they landed. Little pink flowers, those that wouldn’t normally be in the plains were blooming. Thorn paused to scent them, again unaware that they were abnormal. They weren’t as fun as the leaves. However, near the flower, he spotted a bunch of grass that seemed to have been knitted to form a nest. Peering in his ears perked up, “Hey look, Aunty!” Inside were two small eggs. Their parents were either around somewhere or had become food for another animal. All sorts of things were hidden in the grass!
