More than you Think

After a long stand-off, the sound of his own name sent chills down his spine. No one had spoken to him in months, the concept so foreign it almost seemed brand new. He stood a moment longer in shock that she had remembered him, then relaxed slightly. The tenseness faded from his muscles and he suddenly felt weak on his feet.
He watched her approach carefully, trying desperately to recall her name from his memory. Unfortunately, nothing came. He felt embarrassment at his inability to remember, as though she would know his thoughts and think less of him for them. Erebos lowered his head slightly when she came near, but kept his icy eyes focused on hers. He nodded at her words, and watched her turn, but was hesitant to follow.
The decision was made but a moment later. He needed this, needed to accept and welcome someone's kindness, needed to find himself again. Perhaps this woman could help him. One foot after the other, he stepped slowly behind her until he came to the place she had sheltered and sat beside her. He wished to ask her name again, but found himself unable to speak. Eyes focused on the ground below his paws, he prayed she would break the silence and coax him out of the thick shell he had created for himself.
