Happy Birthday to Us

Chade wasn’t the most sentimental of wolves but some things deserved attention.  Ricin and Chade had done more than just lived two years but they had thrived.  Despite all the odds and hardships they had come through them and grown strong.  It was a mixture of their inner strength, luck, sacrifice of others, the kindness of Manea and Elysium taking them in, along with the strong loving bond the two brothers held for each other.

Chade had wanted to do something memorable for Ricin to celebrate their day.  He remembered their past and ironically found their time alone together held some wonderful moments.  The closeness of their bond has been precious.  Searching his mind for something of value for the present Chade finally came up with the best he could think up.

Chade traveled to the old crypt he and Ricin had once visited.  Inside they had found various gems and other oddities trapped within.  Chade had also found an injured goat in there.  Chade made sure to find both again, he grabbed a red sparkling rock and a rock that had been dyed orange and was in the shape of some type of long-tailed bird.  After that, he’d left the crypt and hunted till he found a bighorn sheep.

The items had been brought back with the help of a small cart.  Chade had skinned the corpse, recalling how it was a bighorn sheep he’d tried to make his first pelt from.  He set the ram horns aside, those were what Ry had used when trying to make use of the corpse.  The finished pelt was placed inside the cave, the painted rock and red shiny gem on top of it, along with the deer meat that had been placed on a large rock.

Chade called for his brother.  It was a day early, he wanted to surprise Ricin.  His message was simple, ‘look what I found!’
