Halo could have probably guessed what had happened to Kite's toes, but she chose not to pry. Allow the child the benefit of the doubt. Though Azure had taken control of the Armada, Halo was still nearly stricken in her fear of the man. In her eyes, it was Sirius who'd brought her here, and Sirius who she'd come to trust and rely on. It was Sirius that Halo would always run to, though she kept her genuine fear of the new Warlord close to her chest.

That, and there was too much for Halo to do, to spend her time worrying. Summer was the best time of year for that reason exactly. Halo would be able to keep herself busy. The grey couldn't seep in when she was preparing for winter, tending to the gardens, making sure that all the herbs were picked at just the right time so they could be dried and stored. She didn't need to worry about the things in her head. Preparations needed to be made, and the new pups needed to be cared for. Speaking of puppies, Halo could hear a stone hit the side of her little home in the bottom of the tree.

Kite had come once more, and Halo was happy to see her. Really, Halo was always happy to see any of the children, but she'd taken a shine to Kite in particular. There was fire in the girl, and today it seemed like she was absolutely ablaze with... something. Pulling a bowl of blackberries down, the pale healer slipped through the door of her den, ready to hear the child's troubles. "It's not that they were born better, my lamb," the words were gentle, setting the snack out beside the young girl. "Each of you has different challenges, and learning how to handle those challenges makes you stronger in different ways," the woman spoke softly, setting about tidying the outside of her den. Softly, she hummed as she moved, producing enough noise to let the child know exactly where she stepped and how she moved.

"Your time to kick butt and win will come, especially as you become a better warrior." Halo offered this reassurance as she worked. The child's words brought a gentle smile to her face. "A sabbatical, you say?" She considered, doing her best to keep her tone serious. "You know, a sabbatical is usually taken for the purposes of studying something new. What would you like to study?" Her tail wagged softly at her haunches. "If you sneak off alone, he will... where is it you'd like to go?" The question was a genuine curiosity. If it was somewhere where the herbs grew well, maybe the healer could justify taking Kite out for an adventure.
