She would be sure to remember Incubus, to commit every detail with the importance reserved for leading players in the game that was life, her own and every other’s. They were the main characters in her mind. Nothing was more important than blood, and her own heavily colored impressions of her new home. Her own ignorance to anything that happened outside of her pack’s lands was astoundingly blinding.

Pleione tipped her head briefly at his introduction rather than replying, hyper-focused on their intricate dance, weight shifting, tails lashing, bodies tense and reacting to every tiniest breath. Anticipation made time seem to slow down, all sound muted save his breath and hers. Then he lunged, a barreling train of dark fur and lashing fangs. She met his jump in the air, chest to chest, legs flailing with his, squirming away from the onslaught of teeth while trying to knock him off-balance with her lower center of gravity. She could feel his muzzle pressing into her ruff, teeth scraping, almost latching on- at the last second she dropped her whole body down and up again, shoulder checking him from underneath in an attempt to upset his footing.
