The banter, at least, was enough to warm Jack's cold heart. She smirked to herself, a brassy chuckle ripping through her throat and ribcage. It was more interaction than she'd had with anyone in... how long? How long had it really been? Dangerous company was better than no company, at least things would be interesting. But there was what seemed to be a shred of kindness here, too. The mutual understanding that came with freezing cold winters, and whatever else there was to come. Jack shuffled to her feet at the promise of booze, drawing cautiously nearer to what she now recognized was the crackling of a fire. A fire, and a beast that settled beside it. Gaudy brute that he was, bigger than her, likely stronger but she wouldn't venture tougher. Never would Jack actually venture that anyone was tougher than she. Boldly, carefully, she stepped into the warm light that the little blaze cast about. Her shadow was larger, longer in every way than she. "A drinker by vocation and avocation," a bit of a wild grin, and the fire casting a flickering light in her eyes. Jack could be warmth, for now. "Kind, but I can't offer you anything more than my company in return." Not one to turn down a free drink, but when you're alone, how much is really free? Still, Jack saunters closer, drawing near to the warmth of the fire. A moth to flame. Jack O’Malley looking half a corpse and half a god |
