A gift and a lesson

It wasn’t long before the young girl arrived, and he pushed himself off Bear to study the small creature. She called him Grandpa, and there was a spark of approval in his eyes as he indicated with a paw for Bear to move forward. “Good afternoon, Verity” He said with a warm smile. “I wanted a chance to get to know you, if you have some time to spare?” He said, pulling off the satchel from Bear as the lumbering creature leaned forward.

“And to give you this” He said, unslinging it and holding it down to Verity's eye height. “Your mother tells me you wish to be a healer. This sturdy leather will serve you well, and-” he opened the satchel to show her the inside “As well as a main pocket, there's little side ones to store all sorts of different things” He explained, indicating with a motion for her to take the bag.
