Seere greets each wolf as they arrive, giving Banshee a respectful dip of her head as she introduces herself and the girl says, “Verity is very smart and will make a great healer!” A wag of her tail and bright, happy smile is given to the young pup as they move to a free station. Next came her own mother who the girl waves to with a huge, bright smile. An older wolf was next to appear, gingerly moving to a station and settling in while the monochrome healer beams brightly at her. An earthen male was next and he moved to join the older wolf as the girl smiles warmly to him. Finally, her sister appears and the young girl beams at her, a happy wag of her tail is given to her sister as Saia settles into her station.
Opening the meeting, she informs the class what they will be learning about before posing a question to the class. Verity is quick to answer and many of the wolves nod their agreement to her statement. Seere beams an approving smile to the girl as she says, “That is correct Verity! And exactly what we will be making today. Since winter is coming, aches and pains can be common for many wolves. This is not just limited to older ones. So, we are going to make poultices that will help inflammation and pain.” As she speaks, her mismatched gaze roams over the gathered wolves, making sure that she isn’t going too fast for them to keep up.
Taking a deep breath, the girl picks up the small pack of herbs she had put together for them and similar ones rest on each station. With a happy smile, she says, “Okay! If everyone can open their packet of herbs we will begin.” Seere lays her own pack down, deftly pulling the tie to reveal the ingredients inside. Picking up a small corked jar of a yellow-orange powder, she explains, “This is turmeric powder. It has many great anti-inflammatory properties. Please pour the whole jar into your metal pots.” Uncorking her jar, she moves the pot toward her and tips the contents into it before setting the now empty vial to the side and grabbing the next item.
Paw holds up a shaving of ginger, showing it off to the group while saying, “Grated ginger. Another powerful anti-inflammatory. Okay, all the grated ginger into your pots, please.” Seere moves her ginger into the pot and waits for the class to catch up. Next is a long, green, rigid leaf that she holds between her toes, lifting it so everyone can see, “This is eucalyptus! Not only a great anti-inflammatory but, if there is an open wound, it helps disinfect it. Now, we are going to tear these up like so…” she demonstrates the technique, adding the leaves to her pot. Finally, she holds up another small jar, saying, “And finally, coconut oil! This will help to dry out the herbs we are going to be using.”
Teeth uncork the jar and she empties the contents into the pot before leaving her station to move among the gathered wolves. The girl offers her help where needed and gives encouragement to each wolf. As she moves to her mother, Rava’s, side, she offers an affectionate nuzzle and small giggle, offering her paws before going to the next wolf. Seere moves to Saia, offering her sister encouraging words and her thanks for showing up. A smile and, if she wants it, a gentle nuzzle is given before she continues on.
Seere has a male Pallas's cat named Paunch and a female barn swallow named Aisling. They are always nearby.
