if you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt

Avantika was glad that there seemed to be so many little warriors among the Hallows' newest litters. More defenders was always a good thing, especially as the pack continued to grow. Also, it reassured her more and more that she didn't always have to be the Hallows' savior. She hadn't had to be that before either, of course, but it was hard sometimes to fight one's own fear and any reassurance was precious treasure to her. But if she had a veritable army of highly skilled knights and Vanguards behind her... well, nothing could get past them. Avantika had never paid much attention to any other packs besides hers, but she giddily thought it impossible that any of them could be stronger than the Hallows.

So far, none of the pups had really stuck out to her as more committed or powerful than the others. Of course, they were all special and wonderful, and she loved them even more now than she knew a few of them -- which she hadn't thought was possible -- but none had come to her trainings more than once. Some of them probably trained with Mercury, too, and she wasn't disappointed or anything. Just hoping.

She headed out on a sunny day with only a few fluffy clouds dotting the sky, making her way to the courtyard and then howling for anyone who pleased to show up.
