As he reiterated what ambition and progress could earn her, it left her feeling uncertain. She found it difficult to believe that she could be anything else, or had any worth beyond what she was instructed to at the given moment. She offered him a nod in acknowledgment, as she certainly wasn't going to tell him no. But it lacked any sort of enthusiasm that might have given an impression of a genuine agreement.
