next in line

After having spoken to the Warlord in the north, Sol and Khonsu had made the decision to visit the next nearest pack - one only territories away, nestled in the middle of a flat rolling plain. Khonsu was not as eager a participant in this idea, the religious extremist in him already managing to declare the place an unsuitable home for location alone. “There’s not a single good vessel nearby at all.” He complained to his brother as they walked. “Desert, grass, tar - one measly river. I liked the mountain better. Now that is a place of power, a proper place for a home.”

Sol however was beginning to find his feet, enjoying the freedom of his new life and looking forward already to the next stranger he might meet. He did not share the religious values of his twin, but he would not undermine them aloud either. “We’ll give everyone a fair chance and then talk it over after, okay?” Sol knew that by asking the question he’d already received the agreement he sought. Khonsu had spent his life trying to win freedom for his cobalt-eyed twin and now that they’d achieved it, Sol knew there was little chance the other male would ever try and take that from him.

This time upon reaching the border, Sol needed no extra prompting or encouragement to give the summoning howl. He tipped back his head and called politely for one of this pack’s resident members, intent upon learning what he could about the community that resided here and whether or they might be able to fit in. Khonsu’s ears flattened as the howl sounded beside him, sharp fuschia eyes fixed upon the plains to wait and see who might answer their call.
