Lesson One: Poultices

Rava sat back with Saia as they began to heat the herbs until fragrance. Stirring the mixture was oddly soothing, and though Rava was an okay healer, she knew the basics to survive. She specialized in identification, not medicine making. As she worked though, she knew this would soon be an activity that occupied much of her time. The soothing scent of herbs and th rhythmic motions helped to relax the cloaked woman. Though she was comfortable enough that her hood had been down during the whole lesson.

The whole process did not take very long, and before she knew it Seere was approving their work and instructing them to remove from the heat. Rava very carefully pulled her jar from the fire. With a bit more difficulty she began to pour the mixture onto her pre-prepared cloth. Both trying not to burn herself, and finagle the pot with her clumsy paws. Eventually she succeeded and most of the mixture poured out into the awaiting receptacle.

With her napkin folded awkwardly Rava still felt a bit of accomplishment as she looked at her work. Of course, her daughters were both better than hers, but that fact made Rava’s heart soar to know how blessed they were. They wouldn’t ever have the life she had been rescued from. Content she looked up to Saia, she would stay for more if the girl wanted to.
