Once he became aware that the other boy had finished whatever mission he had been on beneath the bear, Aresenn released his hold on the bear's forearm, allowing himself to be cast aside with the last remaining force the bear had to muster. The ember-hued yearling landed on clumsy paws in an effort to absorb most of his weight in his front end to avoid pressuring his hindquarters anymore than he had to. For the first time since the beginning of the conflict, the mutilated beast wasn't actively fighting for its life and took the opportunity to try and flee back towards the water. It groaned in agony, likely lacking the energy it took to scream. And just as the bear turned around, he could clearly see the damage that had been done to its guts as they dragged the rocky ground behind it. "Nice." He mumbled, admiring the handiwork.
The bear would never make it to the water. With the final exertion of its waning life, the bear tripped over its own legs and staggered to the ground. Aresenn slowly approached behind it- limping in his back end- marveling at the giant soon-to-be carcass. It wasn't a clean kill, but nevertheless, he held great enthusiasm for what they accomplished today. And as he stood heaving, he crossed the remaining distance between the bear and the bank of water to grab a long, fulfilling drink in the silence leftover from a battle well fought.
