The moon was cradled gently in the sky. Looming overhead and blanketed by the twinkling of stars. Summer was coming to a mild end while autumn decided to keep the chilly weather around. Even as a light shiver rolled down the pup's back, she continued on. Sleep would not come for her. Not as she left the castle. Not as she strolled through the plains. Not even as she looked up at the shriveling leaves of Wildberry Grove. Hopefully, no bears would be out tonight. Trouble was the last thing that Bramble wanted.

Trouble would be what she got.

How was it that every time she left the confines of the castle, something happened? Was the world really this dangerous? She wouldn't know it yet. Her large paws carried her down the paths and around some corners. Rotten berries stained her toes as she moved closer to the center of the grove. It wasn't long until she broke into a clearing where she could clearly see the full moon lingering above her. With plenty of light, she was able to see a mound of something in the center. Lying there, in the grass, covered in something. The scent wasn't too great either.

It stung her nostrils and caused them to crinkle. She lowers her chin until it sweeps the tips of the grass. Her tail tucks between her legs as she creeps forward. Both ears are pressed forward to listen for any other sounds. Whatever is laying there is barely breathing. From the shadows, a pair of eyes watch her. Beady eyes with no color to them. Who was that? More interested in the poor thing laying in the middle of the clearing, Bramble continued to approach. "Are you okay?" She whispers without knowing who or what is creeping up behind her.
