It had been a few day's since he had seen the little sparrow. Her bright shining eyes, the ones that even a summer sunlit forest couldn't compare to, he still didn't understand this, she was almost like an obsession, he would follow her for hours, watching her every move, smelling her in the wind, nearly tasting her on his tongue. He knew he could have her, that should would let him, but it was much more fun this way, and when he felt that she suspected something of his game, he would leave her alone, this time it was a little longer then normal. Today he took the long trek from her last destination to this one, a strange place made of ice, there were tree's below his feet, it was very very... odd To be standing above something only the birds understood.

Something in the air was wrong. He couldn't place it, but he had traced Fell here, she had to be around here somewhere, at this point he was slow in pace, trying to get a better grasp on the old scent, he was much further behind then he realized, and the sharp, faint scent of blood was in the air, the longer he followed, the stronger is got. And then. There it was.

He stared at it for a moment, trying to comprehend what he saw. There was a pool of blood, a puddle that stained the ground painfully, Dexter cocked his head as he slowly followed the trail, more and more blood began to appear, and soon chunks of fur along with it. Furrowing his eyebrows he stopped, he knew he should keep moving, but he couldn't, paralyzed his body suddenly ached. That buzzing became gunshots (if he knew what they sounded like), reverberating through his skull, he bent his head towards the ground, his head throbbing as he clenched his eyes and jaw shut.

That ache spread through his body, lightening bolts of agony pulsating through his heart. What was this? What were these feelings? It hurt, he felt his back arch as he swung his head back and forth, trying to shake the pain. Who was this girl to make him feel this way? To send these unbearable feelings through a body that had none, why did she matter at all? He didn't know, but Dexter was fairly certain he would find out, and he'd be damned if he just let her go without finding out why.

The massive beast was exactly that at that moment. A beast that stood tall and proud, baby blue eyes mad and wild as his jowls parted, saliva falling freely from his mouth, snarls and growls emitted from his throat as he trotted along the path of her blood and fur, each paw step towards her sent him just a little more crazy, his snarls and growls echoing through the wasteland.

Was this love?
