Zoey had noticed changes in her leader’s appearance for a while now. Her belly the most obvious; it had swelled to an unusually large size for the normally petite, streamlined femme, and the girl found herself a bit worried. Well, it wasn’t like she was wholly unaware of the birds and the bees and all that - she understood the basics - but she supposed she had never seen someone, well, pregnant before. Same with Cyanide, who had been even more tired and grumpy than she normally was. The two of them looked sick and miserable, and Mister Kuroki looked all the more confused as the days and weeks went by. Well, all pregnancies ended in birth, she knew, and that day had come. At least for Celeste, but she didn’t know where Cyanide had gone. Perhaps the two of them wished to have their pups privately.
Zoey had fallen asleep near Ulmaria, having been lulled into a deep slumber by the scent of steeping herbs her frriend had simmered over a small fire. When the cries of their leader rang out into the air, Zoey had shot upright at almost the same time Ulmaria had, blinking away the drowsiness from her eyes as shereached for her goggles and hastily slipped them over her head. She was having them now. Like, right now. Zoey glanced at her packmate, who she knew had healing experience, as if she might have a clue what to do. But trailing after her at a rapid lope, they reached the den Cel had made out for her birthing spot. Zoey’s eyes widened at the sight of the blood, a faint look of horror crossing her eyes - out of concern for Celeste, and out of the naïvete of having never seen a live birth before. She crouched by Ulmaria, frowning and brow furrowed as she added,"Miss Cel? Would you like any water? Or extra furs?" She knew the new mother might need hydration. And maybe some extra cushioning. But beyond that, she didn’t have any experience in tending to newborn pups. Or new mothers.
"Speech!"
