His children were growing, almost yearlings in their own right. When summer, or winter for Auster, came they would hit that magical age. Already their personalities were really shining through. Strong, kind, brave, the tiny winged man couldn’t have been more proud of them. Today he had decided to dedicate some time to one of his children. He wanted to build more bonds, make memories, while he had the energy to do so. Gavroche hated to admit it, but he wasn’t such a young man anymore. There were a few stray white hairs starting to appear around his muzzle. He wore the sweetest smile, his green gaze on the lookout for one of his children.

Corbin had at last been deemed well enough to be out and about unsupervised. His temporary loss of sight had Gavroche feeling overprotective and, even if it meant sending James with him, he would make sure his son was safe. As he met the edge of the territory of the falls where it faded away to Cattail Creek he noticed the orange-marked boy’s scent, along with that of his sheep. They’d been here recently. Perhaps Cor could put up with his father for a bit longer and humor him by spending time together? That was Gav’s mission when he set off from the cave after all.
