Salt soaked

The girl had been in rough shape, she was still struggling to wrap her head around the fact that she wasn't supposed to scratch at the mushrooms that sprouted from her skin. It didn't take much for her to forget, however, when they sprouted from an ear or in a fold of her skin. Ooze dripped from her ear, which wasn't so bad, since now it let her hear the waves, but her vision was partially obscured by a new nub that the girl was almost certain would bloom into a full blown mushroom in no time. Her sister had tried washing her wounds with salt water when she was smaller. Now Fuji had headed back to the Armada, just for a little while, to learn some new things, maybe get some advise, well, she was sure she could manage to splash some water on the oozy bits herself.

Seabirds wheeled overhead, and she narrowed her eyes against the glare of the sun, watching the water roll in with trepidation. Perhaps that bit out in the middle would be better? It certainly seemed calmer than the water out here... At least to her. It just might take some wading to get there? She could manage that.
