Calico Jack is late. Legs churn as he races through the flower studded land, moving as swiftly as he can back into Pirate’s land. When Gil’s call to the pack about the change in leadership had reached his ears, the boy had been out in the gulley doing… manly things. Truthfully, he had been picking some beautiful red poppies that reminded him of his friend Rivin’s fiery markings. He had been planning to present them to her but, at the curious sound of Gilgamesh’s call for the assembly, the patchwork-colored pup had abandoned his quest… for now.
As he goes, worry needles his brain as he cannot help but wonder if something bad has happened to his mother. Sure, Sparrow has been drinking more than usual lately and it seems that she is more drunk than sober nowadays but he still cares about her. Sparrow is a lot of things to a lot of people but to Cal, she will always be, first and foremost, his mother. While there is a myriad of feelings that come along with that word, the boy realizes he does not wish anything bad to happen to her… ever.
Pale paws hit the black sand of the familiar beach but he does not slow his frantic race until he lays eyes on the meeting area. Slowing to a trot, he moves closer and spies Gilgamesh standing in the middle of the area, tall, regal, ready to lead, and looking like he won’t take any shit from anyone. A grin graces his lips as he dips his head in greeting to his and his mate who is sitting off to the side. Shooting the man a wink, Calico spies Rivin and angles over toward her.
Trotting happily up to her, Jack pulls to stop beside and gives her a friendly nudge of greeting. Casting his icy-hued gaze to Gil, anxiety still tugging at his mind, the boy works hard to keep his words light and attitude carefree as he joyfully says, “Hey ya Gil! Taking over ‘eh? I guess I’ll follow you.” A short laugh is offered before he makes a big show of stretching and flopping down beside Rivin. Looking up at her and lifting a brow he asks her, “You’re comin’ too… right?” She is his best friend and Calico Jack suddenly realizes that, if she doesn’t come along, he isn’t sure what he will do.
