Pop goes the weasel!

Celeste is proud of the pup as she beams down at the little sprite. Knowing that Unagi will not be so little soon, she wants to treasure this moment. Hunkered down behind a bush with the breeze tussling their fur, it would only last so long. Lost in thought as she tried to impress these seconds into her memory forever, she almost didn’t notice the rustling not far off. As Unagi’s face wrinkles and her attention turns toward the other bush, Celeste also pays attention. Her own aquamarine gaze watches the wiggling leaves as the telltale scent of a weasel wafts their way. Pleased to know that Unagi’s senses were working properly, she had to hold back a laugh when the pup called the animal a “stinky noodle creature.” While the pup wasn’t wrong, it also wasn’t the name for it. Covering her lips with a paw until her giggle subsided, she nodded down at Unagi. “Ah, yes, honey, those are weasels,” she says with an amused smile before leaning down to nuzzle the top of Unagi’s head with her nose. Turning back to watch the leaves move back and forth, she lowers another inch or so to ensure that she was properly hidden in the shadows. “Now, Unagi, what we want to do is be fast and accurate. When we see that the weasel is distracted, I want you to burst out of our little hiding spot and be fast enough to jump it before it notices,” her gaze flicks from the pup to the target. “When you think it’s time, go,” her voice is a gentle whisper before she turns to keep her eyes on the weasel scouring for berries. Celeste’s plan was to follow Unagi and take the weasel down in the pup ended up unsuccessful. |
