Aris pulled away, panting but exuberant. Yes, she had probably only won because Gossamer and Malachai were distracted by each other and in the chaos of a melee she'd been small enough she'd gone unnoticed until it was too late, but a win was a win, and a small enough stroke to her easily bruised ego to have her preening over it. Oh, she was definitely out of shape, and she definitely had a ways to go, but it was especially satisfying given that two of her children had seen her win. With all of them but Zeejay clearly setting out to tower over her, she needed all the help she could get keeping authority.
