a fish for me and you?

"We need protein," the soft Japanese words slipped from her lips to her Akita as they crept through the brush. Preferring the language of her uncle while conversing with her companion, the pup would nod in understanding. While Rheum was terrible at hunting, the growing pup beside her was proving to be useful. In the weeks since they left Auster, they had been relying on mostly foraging. Mushrooms, berries, fruit, dead carcasses. Catching something alive was more difficult than she had imagined. Especially since she was alone now and had to rely on herself and her pup. "Let's try fishing. I think I see a shallow spot not far down the river," her pup stepped out in front of her to point toward the shore of the Rio Grande. She looks for herself and sees a small offshoot where the water pools before stopping. Perhaps from the bank eroding or something else, but either way, she is thankful that her companion spotted it. Wasting no more time, they head out from the brush to where the pool swirls slowly. It is deep enough to hold fish small enough that couldn't swim or jump back over to the main body of water. Sitting down on the shore, Rheum and her companion wait patiently for the perfect moment to pounce. Rheum Genji-Archer
