He could smell her breath. Strange that it had a certain sweetness to it. Was it because she was younger? He had never really noticed the scent of someone's breath before, but also...he'd never been this close to another, either. Not since his father and mother had died. Nose to nose, his head rattled with the clash of horn against antler, skull to skull. His vision was starting to swim. He had never really done a head-on assault like that, and he realized it wasn't the best idea. The girl was bigger and taller than he was, but it didn't stop him from trying to throw her off balance.

That is until she spits at his face. He growled in disgust as he, out of reflex, backed off and aimed to slap her head away from him with a heavy paw. He felt the teeth of another creature sink into his foreleg, earning a snarl of pain before his mini reindeer charged in with the intention of throwing the bobcat away from his master.
