all things considered, Araneae is relatively pleased with how things turned out. sure, they’d still gotten their ass handed to them - and they had to apologise to that bratty princess, the injustice of it all - but at least they hadn’t gotten shouted at. and privately, they were just hoping Bas and Hazel weren’t told about this; after all, if they were gonna get in trouble for fighting, it might as well be for a fight they’d actually won. so really, they could suck it up and apologise, at least externally. didn’t mean they had to actually be sorry, or anything. “i’m also sorry for fighting you. and i’m really sorry for calling you princess. stinky. fur.” pain slices through them as Kyanite grasps their paw, but they squeeze it back just as tightly, hoping to elicit that same pain twofold. and next time, they add to themselves, i’m gonna kick your ass.

indeed, though it perhaps would not be any time soon, a seed of determination had been planted in Araneae’s heart: one day they would be strong enough to grind Kynaite into the dirt.
