Will you watch the fireflies with me?

It appeared Scald could care less about his surroundings. Sucked into the burn of his booze and the tenderness of his meaty dinner, he gulped away without a second thought. Even as the fireflies danced about him and the dangling willow branches brushed the ground nearby, he never looked up. The flicker and crackle of his small fire beside him kept him warm and the oncoming winter's breeze away. Thankfully he was smart enough to make camp beneath the tree, by its trunk, so unless someone was nearby, they wouldn't know he was here anyway. He thought he was hidden enough until the quietest rustle of a nearby bush made his ear twitch. Freezing mid-bite, his bi-colored gaze glanced up toward the shadows. "Who's there?" Scald called out as the quills along his spine and the fur along his scruff began to rise and puff up. "Show yerself," he rumbled as he finished swallowing his current bite and wiped his muzzle along his ankle. S C A L D
