Friendly Shadows

He headed toward the southern coasts now that there was a break in the winter storms. Something told him his sister was out there somewhere, but he wasn't sure where she might be. He figured he might as well start somewhere, so the black sand beach would be his starting point. He walked across the shore, the ocean to his right and inland to his left. He was bruised and sore from a handful of fights he'd had lately. He had been trying to hone his skills, trying to practice so he wasn't constantly feeling like he was floundering about while trying to find his way.

The sun was barely rising above the horizon, throwing various colors into the sky. He'd been walking for the better part of the night and finally decided to stop and rest. Pulling off the temporary pack he had slung across his back, he set it down beside him and watched the sun rise.
