Today was a special day, Gavroche could feel it. He had been left on the ground floor as Dusk went off somewhere else. Was she training? Gav hadn’t actually asked why she had to go, just accepted it like when his mama and papa said they had to go out for a while. It was just something she had to do, and that was okay. She always came back. Gavroche had no reason to believe she wouldn’t be. But as he sat in the entryway he recalled something his aunt had said when he ran into her. The Hallows… he was in the Hallows now. And his grandmother, Bellamy, was supposed to be at the Hallows because she was sad. It made sense why he felt safe here. His family trusted these wolves. Maybe if he found his grandmother she could tell them where his family was! A new sense of determination filled the boy. He’d find her. No matter what it took.
Gavroche would poke into room after room, checking them for other wolves. He didn’t remember Bellamy clearly, but he had that fuzzy image of her. …and when he found her, he found Bellamy staring out the window, laying on the bed with a sad look on her face. The boy’s smile faded then. No! She was supposed to come here and feel better so she could come home! The tiny pup made his way over to the bed. Thankfully there were some furs and pillows that had been pushed to the side, and Gavroche used them now to climb up onto the bed with her. His grandmother hadn’t noticed him come in, so lost within her own thoughts as she was. Gavroche would move onto the bed and place himself between her paws, looking up at her with a saddened look on his face.
“No more sad. I don’t want you to be sad.” The femme looked at him then, her eyes widening. Gavroche whined, ears pinning to his head. “No more sad, gramma!” He pleaded. She deserved to be happy and be able to play like he did. “I’ll make whoever made you upset say sorry, then you can smile again!”
