The viking king rounded the corner, gaze falling on the child. She was small, hunkered down as if to appear even smaller. His gaze softened. She couldn't have been much bigger than Delphi, couldn't have been much older either. Maybe the same age as even Celeste, when the shadow had stumbled across her for the first time. The gods kept handing him little girls, when they seemed to be at their most alone in the world. Víðarr's posture is careful, neutral. Head hanging low, trying not to intimidate the girl. It's hard, given his imposing size. The shadow was doing his best. He's trying. Still, he knows just how large he seems.

Víðarr stopped at a distance, not wanting to leave the girl feeling cornered. Making sure that she has enough space to get to an exit, should she feel the need. He sits carefully on his haunches before sliding down to his belly, giving her the benefit of space. Getting on the child's level. All the things he feels like he should do, when it comes to scared, lonely kids. She missed her dad... while Víðarr couldn't relate, he could nearly taste the grief in her voice. "Tell me about him," it's a gentle directive, his accent playing heavily with each word. Yes, Víðarr figures the man she longs for is dead. Dead parents were par for the course in his people, after all.
