Poisonous Endeavours
The relief that Lurid felt at finally having found her sister was short-lived. The longer it took Sanguine to turn around and face her, the more rage built up in the ivory demon queen until she no longer saw her sister standing there. There was a visible quake in Lurid's muscles, a slight twitch in her neck that dragged her head just a bit toward the left, and an audible click to her teeth as she licked her lips. Sanguine spoke on ragged vocals, but the tone her sister used was all wrong. There should be equal relief and apology in her grating voice, not the sarcasm that spewed from obsidian lips. Lurid allowed her rage to show through as her holographic gaze locked on to the bruised and bloodied gaze of her sister once she finally did turn around.
Pulling her lips back into a smile that would scare even the insane, Lurid took a single step toward Sanguine, then another and another. Her tail rose in dominant fashion behind her back and she stood tall to tower over her sister, drawing slowly closer and closer until she had taken all of the available space between them. "Where have you been, Sanguine?" Lurid did not fear her sister, nor was she repulsed by her voice alone. In Lurid's mind, the vocal surgery had been a success and Sanguine had been much better behaved since receiving it, but she knew it poisoned Sanguine against her to some degree. The prolonged absence was unexcused, and Lurid hoped Sanguine would have a good reason for being gone so long. "Melius fac, soror, hic non eras." Latin lyrics were purred on a growl, a dire warning from the pale demonic queen.
Lurid did not want to punish her littermate, the joy of finding her safe and sound was too much, but the rage she felt at Sanguine's abandonment was too great. Before Sanguine could speak again, letting loose those terrible vocals with one excuse or another, Lurid snapped her teeth in Sanguine's face. She did not aim to make contact, only a point. Her reason had better be a good one, or she would have more than her voice to sulk over. That "beautiful face" would gain a new scar, and this one may not be covered by fur when it healed either.
