A pain that runs deep

Strai blinked at her, shocked and surprised. His eyes narrowed as he started to glare at her. Why was she turning this into an argument? “I told you that you were everything. What else do you want me to say?” He asked, truly perplexed. She hadn’t exactly told him the same, she had said she wanted to be, not that she was. But he would take it. Because he didn’t want to do any of this without her now, and that was terrifying.

When she tucked herself against him, he felt that sudden anger began to ebb and leave him. He rested his head on top of hers, breathing in the scent of her. “I don’t know. Can we be more than friends?” he whispered to her, his heart rate kicking up in his chest.
