Okay, I caved in. Tryout for Galahad.

~~~
The young brute opened his eyes, a gentle gaze within them as he slowly and carefully lifted his body up into a sitting position. In the den around him was his family -- sisters, a mother, and a father. The boy blinked his green orbs a couple of times, looking over each member of the family to ensure that all were safe in a world of dreams. Soon satisfied that all seemed well, the boy picked his way around his parents and padded to the entrance of the den. He looked over his shoulder once more at them -- a picture perfect family -- before exiting the den to the world above.
The moon was high in the sky -- the dead of night. No birds could be heard at this hour... only the sounds of insects buzzing in the air and the occasional scurrying of some small, furry creature. Galahad took a slow, deep breath before allowing his body to relax. He would come out almost every night like this, when his parents and sisters were sleeping, so that he could watch over the den. He felt a pang in his heart at the thought. No matter what he did he would never be as strong or as brave as his parents... but he would always fight to protect his entire family no matter what.
Gala's ears perked forward as he heard something in a nearby bush. He slipped into a standing position, flicking his ears back and baring his fangs. A growl started to rumble in his throat, but it soon died away when a mouse darted away from the bush, possibly startled by some other predator. This allowed the boy to relax, and he looked back inside the den, a small smile spreading across his face.
"Don't worry guys... I'm watching out for you." He took one last look around before slipping back into the den. He nestled right up against his mother, carefully letting his body get into a relaxing position before closing his eyes. "Love you mom..." He whispered. Before too long Galahad drifted off into the land of dreams, once more having a successful night of "defending" the den.
