She Told Me I Couldn't Fly

.
Despite the numbing cold, she could still feel the dull sensation of her skin being torn apart by the wicked hook of his canines. Each excruciating jolt of pain felt like a thousand needles piercing her body. But even in this moment of agony, she could hear his snarl, feel the vibration through his powerful jaws as he clamped down on her scruff. The sound echoed in her ears- a warning of sorts, but they were long past warnings now. And yet, she couldn't move- couldn't fight back. As the adrenaline faded, exhaustion washed over her like a heavy blanket. Every muscle in her body felt weighed down by the intense physical exertion that her unprepared frame had endured. Her determination to resist and fight back still burned strong, but her body simply couldn't keep up. Gasping for air, she was roughly dragged out of the churning waves and unceremoniously tossed onto the solid ground, her bones protesting with each jarring impact.
As soon as she felt dry land beneath her, she made an uncoordinated attempt at righting herself- shoving herself to her paws. But in the process of doing so, she felt his weight suddenly at her back- pinning her against the ground. His hot breath tickled her ear, and she fought the urge to shrink away in disgust. How many times have we been here? I’m getting rather bored of it. She couldn't control her own laughter as it erupted from her chest, resonating in the space between them. “Don’t lie to me, you fucking sadist!” She answered him through her hysterics. “If you didn’t enjoy the fight, we wouldn’t be here at all.” Everything about this had been a fight. She couldn’t allow it to go without one.
