The day's travels had been slow. Painfully slow. The boy had spent much of the day out, wandering among the warriors, trying to keep up. The better hearted of them had picked him up, passed him about. Really, there was no greater feeling than riding on his father's shoulders. Like being on top of the world. Sometimes he romped among the yearlings, when they'd tolerate him. While he'd tried to walk with Maki, as she claimed she had stories for him, the boy quickly found they were all made up! At least Oki was more fun. It had been a big day for the boy!

Big days led to naps, and now? Effectively catching his second wind as they rested at the very edge of the fjord, the boy was happy to get away from the rest. Get away and explore. They would need to rest for a bit before crossing, dad had grumbled something about this having sounded easier in his head or... yeah! So, sick, he'd get to play in the cold, shallow water while everyone else rested and did boring stuff. He's quick to notice the crabs as they scuttle about the rocks and tidepools, standing still and quiet as he observes. Squinting against the early afternoon sunlight, Björn focused his gaze on the crabs, waiting for one to come close enough to pounce on.
