Beauregard had refused to allow his wounds to be tended until he was sure all of his wolves had been seen first. Defenders… his family… Each member of Norad was an extension of the family he was building, and the more he came to realize that, the more he realized what Bellamy had meant to create when she formed Ethne. Their kingdom, an ally to that pack, might have been new, they may have lost supplies in winter, but Beauregard couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride for those who stood with them. Even knowing they were outnumbered, with wolves who had been more skilled than they were… They had all stood without hesitation for their home. Small, young, old, handicapped… each of them had fought regardless. And as Beauregard woke the next morning he swore he would strive to get even stronger, to continue to protect Norad as its Artifex and make sure that next time, they would be better prepared to face a threat.

The man heard the call of his mate and turned from the borders to answer. He wanted to check on each of their members… and reach out to their youngest. Seeing their loved ones injured would be confusing, possibly frightening for them… or worse yet might make them angry and want to go punish the bullies. He needed to be firm that they weren’t to go off on their own, lest they get hurt or snatched up by another predator.

He would arrive to find Tanelan and Bellatrix present, a sigh leaving his lips. He approached his eldest and nuzzled her cheek. “You shouldn’t have come out to the battlefield, Trixy.” His words were soft, eyes glazed over with the worry he had for her. He wasn’t looking directly at the yearling… not yet. “...if you’re going to insist on getting in such situations… at least let us train you first, okay?” There would be no stopping the pixie from defending her home, he realized. So he at least wanted her to have the skills to keep herself safe. He looked to Bellatrix now, his blue gaze fixed on her. “Promise me?”
